Here to Stomp the Stigma today is Chad Kennedy, founder of Sea to Sea for PTSD!
Chad will be walking across Canada, from sea to sea, to raise money and awareness for PTSD beginning in April of 2022. This week he is walking the Alberta leg as a practice run, so he is walking across the province as you are listening to this episode!
In this episode we got to explore Chad’s personal experiences with PTSD, how it affects his everyday life, and how he manages his mental health. We also got to talk a bit about the stigmas and misconceptions surrounding first responders, PTSD, and around men opening up about their struggles.

Today’s episode is a little bit different! I have had a rough couple weeks mentally and was in desperate need of a journal session, so this week’s episode is a verbal journal entry from me!
Please note, this is not a cry for help, just a place for me to express everything in a safe and healthy way. I love sharing your stories and experiences, and this is a chance for me to share a part of mine.

Here to Stomp the Stigma today is music therapist Fleur Hughes (MMT,MTA, MT-BC)!
Fleur completed her Master's in Music Therapy degree at the University of West England in 2015. Since then she has worked with populations across the lifespan.
She is passionate about how music therapy can help improve overall mental, physical and emotional wellness. Fleur finds joy in supporting individuals through their wellness goals and has seen how music therapy can foster change and growth through a variety of music based interventions.
Her therapeutic approach is person-centred and rooted in a humanistic perspective, and she facilitates and supports individuals at every stage of therapeutic journey.
Fleur also serves as the Ethics Director for the Music Therapy Association of Alberta (MTAA)
In this episode we get to talk all about her career as a music therapist, now offering services out of Supporting Wellness, as well as a little bit about her experience in the British army.

I have not met many people who struggle in the same way I do so I was super excited to chat with her all about Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)! She shares her experiences with quiet BPD as well as complex PTSD, the stigmas that bother her, and her coping mechanisms. We also share and compare our experiences with BPD and give a little insight into the life of someone who struggles with BPD.

In this episode we talk about how the labels associated with Jon’s injuries have affected his life, and how his experiences in the military and the police service have affected his views of the world. We get into a little bit of his compassion fatigue, a peak into life as a first responder, as well as his advice for others who are struggling. Lastly, we finally get to talk about his book - Operation: Wired Differently, his business - Wired Differently, and how he incorporates other veterans into his projects as much as possible.
